Project Description

A New Home

Our journey to sponsoring refugees began in December 2006 when we met a new Canadian from the Congo and learned of his and others’ difficult life stories.  As a church, we chose to get involved and after a 5 year process we had our first African family arrive in 2013.

We have been involved in 8 sponsorships, co-sponsorships or just assisting others who are bringing family over.  While most of our New Canadians have come from the DR of Congo in Africa we have had some from Syria.  Part of our responsibility is to help these families adjust to Canadian life, to help them find places to live, where to go to school, find transportation, and find education centres for learning English.

We are blessed to have a supportive Church and be able to help these former refugees who are now New Canadians.
